The castle of king Fasiledes

Simen mountains National Park

The Simien is definitely the most beautiful mountain range in Africa. Vast and unique, the highland plateau is capped by a dramatic skyline of jagged volcanic plugs and split by deep gorges and gullies. The views across this landscape are breathtaking: the striking towers and formations having been described as 'the chess pieces of the Gods'. Our trek takes us to both the highland and rural lowland areas, with an ascent of Ras Dashen, the highest peak in Ethiopia at 4543m, and the fourth highest in Africa. A haven too many endemic species of flora and wildlife, including the gorgeous Gelada Baboon (heart blooded baboon) and Walia Ibex and many other interesting mammals .The Simien National Park has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The kosoye view

A half day trip to kosoye view , which is 34km to the north of Gonder , where you will trek for about 2 hours and see beautiful escarpment and luckily chilada baboon and Collebess monkey. And on the way back you will visit the Felasha village where the Ethiopian Jewish had been lived until the air lifted in to Israel ,their artifact skills pass down to the local people how are making pottery, Ironery and basketry .

The village of Awramba

A day trip to the village of Awramba which is 115km to the south of Gonder . Awra Amba is a community of about 463 people , was founded in 1980 with the goal of solving socio-economic problems through helping one another in an environment of egalitarianism . The name means "Top of the Hill" in Amharic. Founded by Zumra Nuru, who currently serves as co-chairman of the community, with 19 other people who shared his vision, and is lauded as a model to alleviate poverty and promote gender equality in a country where women are generally subservient to men.

The Castle of Guzara

A day trip to the first Gonderian castle built in 1580’s by Emperor Sertse Dingil in 1571, the Castle of Guzara (now in ruins) was originally named Gubae, meaning "Assembly" . It sits on a strategic hill-top overlooking Lake Tana, some 5km south of the town of Emfraz, 66km southeast of Gonder City, 111km northeast of Bahir Dar, and only a km to the east, off the main Addis Ababa - Gonder highway. The Castle of Guzara was built well over half a century prior to that of Fasiledes, and due to striking similarities in architectural design between the two, the prior is considered by experts as the prototype to the latter. Then drive to gonder or on the way to bahrdar can be visited.

Gorgora Village

A day trip to the village of Gorgora a church dating from 1334 (rebuilt in 1608) that boasts beautiful frescoes. A few kilometres away form the port southwest, you can find the ruins of the 17th century palace and of the cathedral of Emperor Susenios. From the ruins you have a beautiful view across Lake Tana. The nature in and around Lake Tana is also overwhelming. The lake itself is known for its abundance of bird species. Along the shore and on the lake’s islands there are ancient trees in which many species of birds, such as weavers, brood and hatch their young. The lake also attracts any number of water birds including fish-eagles, ibises, storks, silver herons, pelicans and kingfishers. You can see these birds on the campsite as well. The lake is home to hippo, baboons, antelope, Nile lizards, hyena and many other species .
